Fixed Total Dental Prosthesis, also known as All-in-One treatment, is the Implantology treatment, which we recommend to patients who have suffered a large or total loss of teeth in one or both the jaws.
On the same day, we place between 4 and 6 dental implants in the jaw, create and fix a total prosthesis capable of replicating all the functions of a natural dentition – Chewing, Esthetics, Bite, Phonetics and Strength.
We recommend this treatment to many of our patients who have previously used traditional removable dentures. These prostheses, over time, tend to become quite uncomfortable and can cause small wounds and gum infections, which when not treated in time can lead to permanent damage.
With the Fixed Total Dental Prosthesis, manufactured with biocompatible materials, the body is able to adapt quickly and naturally to the part, starting to consider it as if it were a natural piece of the body.
At Prime Dental Clinic, we want to ensure that each patient has a unique treatment, personalized to their individual characteristics and that meets their expectations. Therefore, we created partnerships with a Renowned and Trusted Dental Laboratory, where each piece is crafted taking into account the unique characteristics of each patient.
Why should you opt for the use of Total Dental Prosthesis?
Functionality
We recommend using the “Teeth in 1 Day” treatment when there is significant or total tooth loss in at least one of the jaws.
These prostheses will return the functionality of a natural dentition in terms of bite, chewing, force support and phonetics, giving back a lot of the quality of life to our patients.
Pathology Prevention
The lack of teeth can be a cause of aggravation of pathologies in Oral Health.
When there is space between each tooth, they can start to “move around”, which in addition to creating crooked teeth, can compromise the entire jaw.
The extraction of these compromised parts for the placement of complete dentures, prevents having to deal with these more serious complications.
Comfort
Many of our patients complain of having previously been advised to wear removable dentures, which over time became uncomfortable, even in some cases causing small wounds.
In these cases, we advise the placement of fixed total dentures, which are made using biocompatible materials, which are better accepted, avoiding future complications or rejection by the body.
Treatment Process – Fixed Dental Prosthesis
Evaluation Consultation
In a first evaluation appointment, the responsible Dentist, in this case Dr. Pedro Ferreira Lopes, Master in Implantology, will begin by analyzing the oral condition of each patient, which together with medical examinations – CATs and X-rays – will determine if “Teeth in 1 Day” solution is recommended and possible.
In some cases, where there is a great degeneration of tissue and bone, it may be necessary to resort first to Oral Hygiene and Bone Regeneration treatments.
Treatment Day
Treatment starts with prior planning of the surgery to be performed. This planning involves defining where the implants will be placed, taking into account the existing bone structure.
In the first appointment at the beginning of treatment, initial molds, bite registration and intra and extra-oral photographs are made to assist in aesthetic planning.
In a second appointment, a provisional teeth test is carried out in order to check if the planning result is in accordance with what was intended.
The first two appointments take approximately 30 minutes each.
The third appointment is on the day of surgery. In this consultation, teeth are extracted, if needed, and implants and temporary fixed teeth are placed. This procedure takes a few hours, but the patient will remain at the clinic for the entirety of the day in order to provide the best result, comfort and convenience.

Then, we remove the teeth that are still present, and proceed to the placement of Dental Implants – parts similar to a screw, made of titanium, placed in the bone under the gum, to mimic the root of a natural tooth, which will serve as the basis for the placement of final prostheses.
During the afternoon, we received from the Laboratory the Provisional Prostheses worked with a more malleable material, compatible with the gums in the healing phase, which will restore all functionality and aesthetics of a natural dentition.
Fixation of Definitive Fixed Prostheses
6 months after the placement of the Dental Implants and Provisional Prostheses, when the gum has already healed and the body has adapted to the Dental Implants, the patient will return to the Clinic for the placement of the Definitive Dental Prosthesis, designed in a personalized way to create the highest compatibility with the patient’s physiognomy.
This process is quick and completely painless, requiring no recovery time.

FAQ
What can the patient eat after the surgery?
In the first two weeks after implanting the temporary prostheses, it is necessary to pay special attention to the food we eat.
For the treatment to take place as planned during this phase, it is necessary to have a diet based on liquids, preferably cold or at room temperature, or ice cream.
After this phase, you can start to eat solid foods, but preferably soft foods (purées, minced meat, fish and similar foods).
After fixing the permanent dentures, it won’t be necessary to pay any special attention to the diet that you would not have with a natural dentition.
What’s the difference between the All-on-4 treatment and crowns or bridges?
Total Fixed Prostheses, Crowns and Bridges are all pieces we fix over Dental Implants.
The Crown will replace a single tooth, replicating its aesthetics and shape to ensure the patient can perform all chewing and phonetic functions.
The Dental Bridge is similar, but it will replace a set of teeth, all in a row, and may require more than one implant to be placed.
The Total Fixed Prosthesis restores the entirety of the jaw, requiring between 4 and 6 implants to be placed.
How are dental prostheses cleaned?
Our Fixed Dentures are designed to mimic in every way a Natural dentition.
So, we recommend continuing with the same hygiene habits that you had before, brushing your teeth at least twice a day and using dental floss and mouthwash.
In some specific cases the Dentist responsible for the treatment may even recommend the use of Toothbrush to ensure that we get the best and longest lasting results.
The use of a water jet device may also be necessary for better implant hygiene.
Will other people realize someone is using a prostheses?
At Prime Dental Clinic we believe that a more conservative perspective on treatments often leads to better results. Therefore, we always recommend that our patients opt for Implantology options that mimic a natural dentition.
Nowadays, advances in Dental Medicine techniques allow us to create Dental pieces that are basically indistinguishable from a Natural tooth.
Is it painful to fix dental implants?
The process of placing Dental Implants and the respective Prostheses is always accompanied by anesthesia, to ensure that the patient is as comfortable as possible during the treatment.
Any discomfort or swelling that may exist in the moments after treatment is effectively counteracted by medication prescribed by the Dentist responsible for the treatment.
On the day of placing the Permanent Dental Prosthesis, 6 months after fixing the implants, there will be no pain nor discomfort.
Can cavities appear in fixed prostheses?
Dental cavities are caused by certain bacteria, often present in foods rich in carbohydrates, which over time begin to partially or completely destroy a tooth.
Our Fixed Dental Prostheses are manufactured with materials resistant to this type of bacteria, therefore resistant to the existence of caries.
However, the cleaning of the Fixed Dental Prosthesis is equally important to that of a natural dentition, to avoid other complications such as periodontitis or periimplantitis diseases.
Will the patient be without any teeth during any point in the treatment?
No.
With our “Teeth in 1 Day” treatment on the same day that we place the implants and remove any existing teeth, we will also proceed with the placement of a temporary fixed prosthesis, capable of replicating all the natural functions of a natural dentition, including the esthetics.
