Teeth whitening is a treatment which aims to turn dark teeth lighter, removing the pigmentation that exists in them through whitening agents in the form of gel.

It is an aesthetic treatment which offers a more harmonious smile quickly and without causing any damage to the teeth and without the need for surgery.

Through the use of a whitening gel composed of Hydrogen Peroxide or Carbamide Peroxide that comes into contact with the teeth surface, it is possible to carry out the whitening process.

Currently, teeth whitening is one of the most sought after treatments at Prime Dental Clinic. Our age and the routines we keep tend to cause our teeth to lose their natural color, but we can return it with this treatment!

This treatment can be performed:

  • At the clinic;
  • At home, after an appointment where a silicone mold is created in a personalized way for each patient;
  • Combining the treatment at home and in clinic. This treatment is usually the most effective and convenient.

Why opt for tooth whitening treatments?

Aesthetic

The main reason our patients seek teeth whitening treatments is aesthetics.

At Prime Dental Clinic we believe that everyone deserves a confident smile and this treatment allows you to get one – quickly and comfortably!

Effective

Teeth whitening always brings results. There may be differences on the results depending on the patient’s teeth, diet, age and hygienic habits, but there will always be noticeable results.

Safe

When done at a Dental Clinic, accompanied by Dentists specialized in Teeth Whitening, the treatment has very little risk of bringing additional complications.

Our whitening equipment is Philips Zoom – a high-quality product that scrupulously complies with all European Union standards.

To make sure that the treatment has the best possible result, we start each consultation by analyzing the patient’s complete Oral Condition.

Durable

Depending on the patient’s condition and habits, the teeth whitening results can last up to 6 years without the need for additional visits to the dentist.

Adaptable

There are several types of teeth whitening treatments that can be used depending on the patients’ expectations, their present condition, and the dentist’s recommendations.

Types of Teeth Whitening

External Dental Whitening in Clinic

The treatments carried out in clinic allows the use of a more concentrated type of whitening agent, than the ones used at home.

We recommend this treatment for patients who have some difficulty using the molds at home due to strong vomit reflex, or patients looking for faster results.

The presence of a qualified professional is a requirement in these treatments. He or she will guarantee the complete isolation of all soft tissues such as lips and tongue.

The gel should only come into contact with the tooth’s surface. After an hour of treatment, the patient will immediately notice changes in the color of their smile.

Internal Teeth Whitening in Clinic

Internal Whitening is another treatment carried out in a Clinic, on patients who have previously undergone an Endodontic treatment (devitalization) that has caused a darkening of the teeth.

Unlike other teeth whitening treatments, the Internal solution is applied in a unitary way – applied only to one tooth at the time. We place the whitening gel inside the tooth’s pulp chamber, and the results will be noticeable in the space of 2 to 3 days.

Because of the way the treatment is administered, this is the whitening solution with the longest lasting results.

External teeth whitening applied at home

This is the most common whitening treatment.

The Dentist, specialized in Teeth Whitening, will deliver 2 molds, uniquely designed for the patient, so that the treatment can be carried out at home.

In most cases we ask our patients to apply the gel over the drips overnight so that the treatment can be done while they sleep.

This treatment should be carried out between 2 and 3 weeks, at the end of which, the results will be clearly visible!

How do we realize the Teeth Whitening treatment in Clinic?

At our clinic,we make sure that there aren’t any pre-existing conditions which need to be treated before starting the aesthetic procedures. Each tooth will be examined by the dentist individually.

After this examination, the doctor responsible will decide whether there is the need for further testing and examination. This is a very important step, which guarantees that our treatments will have the longest possible longevity, and that they will not interfere with the comfort or well-being of the patient!

  1. Adverse conditions such as tooth decay, must be treated before starting the teeth whitening process.
  2. After the approval of the patient for the treatment, the responsible doctor will make the necessary conditioning of the soft tissues in the patients’ mouth, to ensure his safety and comfort. Vaseline on the patient’s lips, cotton rolls preventing the accumulation of saliva, and a gum protector will make sure the treatment process will be completely safe and comfortable.
  3. After this preparation, we’ll place the whitening gel on the teeth’s surface and the treatment will take place with the assistance of LED lights, which are designed to speed up the whitening process. The treatment is expected to take one hour, reapplying the gel and activator every 15 minutes.

FAQ

Does the teeth whitening treatment cause any damage to the teeth?

No. When performed under the recommended medical guidelines, this treatment is completely safe and will not bring future complications to our patients.

We always carry out an initial check-up to ensure that there are no pre-existing conditions which might affect the treatment, we make sure that all products and tools are applied correctly and that the patient is comfortable during the treatment.

Any tooth sensitivity that may exist in the first few days will not be permanent, and is solved with a desensitizing gel, which we’ll prescribe.

Does the treatment cause any pain?

At Prime Dental Clinic we have renowned Dentists, with several years of experience, who ensure the comfort of our patients before starting any treatment.

If the more intense whitening gel that we apply in internal treatments touches the gums, it might cause a slight burning sensation, but the dental protections certify that this won’t happen.

Is it necessary to adapt our diet after the treatment?

In the 48 hours following the teeth whitening treatment, the pores that exist on the teeth surface will be more open, so we recommend that you do not ingest acidic foods or beverages, foods with too much pigment, or use tobacco products.

Which is the best type of Teeth Whitening treatment?

At Prime Dental Clinic, we want to offer all our patients the best possible treatment that suits their characteristics and goals. Therefore, we recommend different treatments to different patients, depending on what they want and their personal characteristics.

For example, in cases where the patient needs a faster treatment, the External Dental Whitening option in Clinic is the most suitable, but if the patient has undergone an Endodontic treatment, probably the most suitable treatment will be the Internal Teeth Whitening treatment in Clinic. For the longest lasting results we recommend a combination of treatments at home and in the office.
